A piece of history restored, a luminous tribute to the legend of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Exceptional Art Deco desk lamp, a true luminous sculpture dating from 1937. It has undergone a light restoration to restore its radiance while incorporating modern safety standards.
This piece is not merely a decorative object. It is a window open onto the epic of the Aéropostale. The chrome-plated metal airplane, with its fluid and dynamic lines, is a representation of the legendary Caudron Simoun.

The opinion of Galerie POPINCOURT

More than a decorative object, this lamp is a true relic of the heroic era of French aviation. The choice of the Caudron Simoun is not insignificant: it was Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's personal aircraft, the very one with which he attempted to fly from Paris to Saigon in 1935. This piece was conceived as a vibrant tribute to the pilot-writer, capturing the spirit of adventure and the mechanical poetry of the 30s.

The Caudron Simoun is intrinsically linked to the history of the author of "The Little Prince".
It was with this type of aircraft, cream and red (registered F-ANRY), that the author carried out a series of promotional conferences across Europe and the Middle East, traveling 11,000 kilometers.
It was also aboard a Simoun that he attempted the Paris-Saigon raid in 1935, tragically crashing in the Egyptian desert before being rescued by Bedouins after three days of walking. An episode that would inspire "Wind, Sand and Stars" (Terre des Hommes).
Finally, it was another Simoun (the red C635 F-ANXK) that he piloted during his attempted crossing from New York to Tierra del Fuego in 1938, which ended in a serious accident in Guatemala.
Owning this lamp means bringing into your home a fragment of this history made of courage, literature, and passion for the skies.
It is an investment for collectors, a prestigious gift for aviation enthusiasts, and a centerpiece for any retro-chic or industrial-style interior. It is sure to spark conversation and the admiration of your guests.
